Projects and activities
With an activity of over 13 years, AIESEC Galati has become one of the central figures of the community in terms of voluntary organizations, with project in the fields of Entrepreneurship, Education, Social Responsibility and IT&C and acting as a liaison between the students and the Corporate environment of Galati.
Some of the projects developed by AIESEC Galati in the past:
• The ABC of your career - 2004/2005/2006
This was the first initiative to educate the students of the community using informal teaching and learning methods. The purpose of the project was to aid the educational system which could only provide the theoretical aspects the leaning cycle. The activities that AIESEC organized for the participants helped develop skills like flexibility, adaptability, communication, teamwork, leadership and initiative, which were considered to be key factors in the search for quality jobs.
The project was an opportunity for AIESEC to offer trainings not just to students who were participating in the Exchange Program but to a number of 100 participants selected from over 150 applicants. The trainings were delivered with the help of 7 partners, companies and NGOs
• Sustainability Excellence Program (1st of June – 1st of August 2008)
The “Sustainability Excellence Program” was a project designed for high school students in order to help them acknowledge the importance of ecological issues like protecting the environment against global warming and sustainable use of water and energy.
With the help of 6 companies and 3 international student (2 members of the Peace Corps and one Exchange Program Participant), AIESEC members developed activities for a number of 80 participant from the local high schools.
• Enter Entrepreneurship (March - June 2008)
The Project’s main focus was to develop the entrepreneurship abilities of Galati’s students. After their recruitment, teams were formed, following that after some specific trainings, the students had to realize a good business plan according to the economical conditions. The decision regarding the best plan was took by a jury consisted of representatives from some companies in Galati. The success of the project was the preparation of a big number of students on an uprising trend and the external positioning.
Enter Entrepreneurship had two editions in 2007 and 2008. For the last the results were:
-35 recruited students in 6 working teams
-3 companies as partners
-6 business plans
• Youth Center ˝Leader Plus˝ (2007 - 2010)
It offers an adequate communication environment for the need of information of youngsters, in the process of similar activities, formative, representing and answer for students needs and interests.
The Center, situated in the Campus of the Economical Science Faculty, has the purpose of contributing to the potential development of the students from Galati and to their social integration.
• Wake up Call (16th of February – July 2009)
The Project’s focuses on contributing to the personal and professional development of high-school students and creating new perspectives for the future based on non-formal education. Students from 5 local high-schools, together with 5 international students and 5 AIESEC members specialized in trainings, will talk about themes like: Planning and activities, Cultural sensibility, Communication, Personal development and attitude.
The results are:
-150 high-school participant students
-2 international students
-5 participating high-schools.
• Sustainability Challenge (1st of March - July 2009)
The idea of the project was born from the necessity of creating a collaboration platform between the economical environment and the student one. Realized on three issues, Education, Entrepreneurship and IT&C, it addresses to the students from the last year of studies that want to complete their CV with some extra experience.
At the end of the project, the 30 participating students have the chance to go in an international internship through AIESEC’s eXchange program, during which they will get a complete preparation on the issue they signed for.
At the moment the results are:
-30 participating students, 10 for each issue
-6 companies as partners
